— Welcome to Newcomers!

To those of you who are considering coming here for the first time we would like to extend a special welcome and invitation. Whatever the reason for your coming, whatever you seek or bring, we would be glad to have you among us.

We are a church of the liberal religious tradition and heritage, one of ancient and deep roots. We are a diverse community which encourages spiritual growth in our members and the practice of our beliefs through active involvement in the church and in the world at large. We are also a religious community embracing a common faith expressed by our commitment to the UU Principles and Purposes. This church promotes the full participation in its activities of all persons of whatever race, color, creed, gender, ability and/or disability, affectional or sexual orientation, age, economic status, or origin.

Our church welcomes new friends, members, and visitors. Our services are on Sundays, at 11:00am. The Sunday services are full church services which usually feature the lighting of the chalice, the symbol of our free faith, along with music, singing, readings, a sermon, and a period of silent/shared prayer and meditation. Sunday services include religious education programming and nursery care for children.

What can you expect?

A comfortable atmosphere, where you'll find many people happy to see each other with a flurry of conversations. You'll be greeted at the door and, if you wish, you may fill out a name tag and sign our guest book to receive upcoming newsletters.

There is no dress code at our church. You may find sweaters and blue jeans, a shirt and tie or casual dress or skirt and blouse, or "Sunday Best" attire. We want you to come however you feel most comfortable. Immediately following the Sunday Service, there is a Coffee Hour in the church Parish Hall. Everyone is invited to stay for coffee and conversation. This is a time for people to renew acquaintances, catch up with old friends and make some new ones! To receive information about our church, please leave a completed visitor's card with the friendly folks at the Visitor's Table in the Parish Hall.

If you would like to learn more about the liberal tradition, Unitarian Universalism and this church, we have a number of opportunities for you to do so. Please contact our Minister, Reverend Terry Burke at 617-524-1634, or firstchjp@aol.com, and for information about Newcomer's Nights gatherings, classes about Unitarian Universalism and our church, or Membership Seminars for those who wish to learn more about what a commitment to church membership is about, please contact Cherisse Haakonsen, Chair of the Membership Committee at cherprieve@yahoo.com.

We look forward to greeting you. We hope that your visit here will provide you with a greater sense of unity within yourself, with the people around you, and with the world outside these walls. We invite you to become a part of our church community.
