Our church member and dear friend Jane Lewis died this morning after a long illness.
May light perpetual shine upon her.
Arrangements for her memorial service at the church are being made, and we will let you know as soon as they are complete.
On a practical note, Jane had two beloved cats, Melba (as in peach) and Alger Hiss, who need adopting. Melba is sweet and middle aged and Alger is older and more standoffish. If you could provide a home for either of them (they are not terribly fond of each other), please contact Andrea Fleck Clardy at either 617-522-8085 or 617-435-1521.

Gathering for friends and family of Brian Arredondo – Monday, January 9, at 7 p.m.
Rev. Terry Burke writes:
On Monday night, January 9th, friends and family of Brian Arredondo will be gathering at First Church in JP with Kim Kates, a staff member from the Samaritans. This will be a time for everyone to talk about Brian, their loss, and their grief. People can ask questions, cry, talk, be quiet, or share worries and concerns. Kim will be there to listen, befriend, and offer information.
The goal of the evening is to offer support, help, and hopefully alleviate some of the isolation and confusion often felt by people who have lost a loved one to suicide. The gathering will be at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
In Memory: Brian Arredondo
Thank you to all who helped host the reception at our church yesterday for Brian Arredondo’s memorial service! We had Gold Star parents, Patriot Guards, Occupy Boston folks, Iraqi vets, Veterans for Peace, labor leaders, Code Pink members, and practically everyone in between all together honoring Brian.
Vigil for Brian Arredondo – Tuesday, December 20, at 7 p.m.
Our deepest sympathies to Carlos and Melida Arredondo, who spoke in church last Sunday. Carlos’ son Brian committed suicide yesterday.
There will be a memorial vigil for Brian Arredondo tonight (Tuesday, December 20) at 7 p.m. in front of the church. May light perpetual shine upon him.
(Update: A Brian Arredondo Memorial Fund has been set up to cover memorial expenses at The Cooperative Bank, 40 Belgrade Avenue, Roslindale, Massachusetts 02131.)
