Myths for Our Times

In times of political and social conflict, modern thinkers have consistently returned to the abundant corpus of ancient myths to help us rethink our current predicament.

In this Adult Religious Education course, Director of Religious Education Mick Hirsch will take us back to some of the classic myths of the Western tradition and lead us into a discussion of some of today’s most challenging political and social questions.

Each class, we will together read aloud short texts by writers, such as Ovid, Sophocles, and Aristophanes. No previous knowledge of mythology is required.

Sundays from 12:30 – 2:00, January 30 – March 6. Light lunch. Contact Mick at mchirsch@hotmail.com with any questions.
